Fellowship Objectives
- To learn to recognize and articulate common clinical and healthcare scenarios using the distinctive language of bioethics
- To understand the major philosophical frameworks used in bioethics; their respective advantages and limits to the individual patient, public health, and society
- To develop the skills to approach and resolve a clinical ethical issue
- To identify and refine a research focus in surgical ethics that enriches how we approach surgery
- To engage in current academic bioethics discussion as it relates to surgery either clinically or as part of the healthcare system through presentations, publications, or leadership positions
