Director of Care Coordination and Population Health

How they incorporate what they learned in the CHESS Surgical Ethics Fellowship into their daily role

“The CHESS fellowship helped me in my current position as the Director of Care Coordination by equipping me with valuable in-depth knowledge, skills, and insights into ethical issues that healthcare providers face daily.  It has specifically helped me with my confidence in co-leading the hospital ethics committee, improved my communication while facilitating ethical consultations, heightened my ethical decision-making and ethical critical-thinking skills, and educated me on strategies to help resolve conflicts amongst the care team as well as with families. ”

How the CHESS fellowship will be helpful in the future

The CHESS fellowship helped me deepen my knowledge and understanding of ethical principles and their application in the healthcare setting.  With a more wholesome understanding, I wrote my first article which is set to be published later this year, of which I am very proud.  This fellowship connected me with amazing individuals who I feel very comfortable calling upon if I ever need advice in the future.  This education and experience helped me grow to have a better self-awareness and personal development, elevating my life both personally and professionally.”
